Two Words That Will Ruin Your Life: “Someday” and “But”

Someday I’ll write my novel.

Someday I’ll get out of debt.

Someday I’ll run a marathon.

Someday I’ll lose weight.

Someday I’ll quit this low-paying job.

Someday I’ll buy a home.

Someday I’ll start my business.

Someday I’ll learn to surf.

Someday I’ll meet the love of my life.

Someday I’ll live my dream.

But I’m too old.

But I’m too young.

But I have kids.

But I had a bad childhood.

But I don’t have enough money.

But I have the worst luck.

But I’m not smart enough.

But I’m not good-looking enough.

But I might fail.

But I could never do that!

But, but, but…

Look, “someday” sucks, and all “buts” stink.

Is the storm of your excuses going to strand you on “Someday Isle?” Unfortunately, you won’t be alone. Most people die there.

It’s your choice.

You have the same 24 hours per day that Bill Gates, Stephen Curry, Oprah, Bruno Mars, and Elon Musk have. What will you do with them?

“I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really: Get busy living, or get busy dying.” – Tim Robbins in “The Shawshank Redemption.”

Whatever it is you know you need to do, need to do. Do it now.

Pass this on.
