A Perfect 2017 Part 2: Gettin’ Specific

(Read my PS and PSS below as well)

If you followed last week’s tip (https://mikerayburndev.wpengine.com/oldsite/blog) you have a picture of your perfect 2017.

Your next step is to turn that picture into specific goals.

There are five areas I asked you to picture as perfect one year from now: Relationships, Health, Career, Finances, and Spirituality/Giving.

Look over each description and pick out specific goals representing your desired outcome and write them as if they already exist.

Examples…

Relationships – If you want more date nights and affection in your marriage your goal might read:

My wife/husband and I enjoy date nights twice every month and joyfully give affection to one another.

Health – If you weigh 175 and want to lose 35 pounds this year, and/or exercise regularly your goals might read:

I love weighing 140 pounds by Jan 1, 2018.

I look forward to my 45-minute work outs four days per week.

Career – If you make $40,000/year and want a higher income and a promotion your goals might read:

I joyfully earn $65,000 or more in 2017.

I am thriving in my new position as district manager by Sep 1, 2017.

Finances – If you want to be debt-free one year from now, or increase your investments by $20,00 your goals might read:

I am debt-free by Jan 1, 2018.

(or)

I gladly invest $20,000 in my IRA by Jan 1, 2018.

Spirituality/Giving – If you want to read a certain number of spiritual books, or the entire New Testament of the bible, and/or give a certain amount to church/charity your goals might be:

I joyfully read the entire New Testament by Jan 1, 2018.

I feel great reading six new spiritual books by Jan 1, 2018.

I joyfully donate 10% of my income to church/charity every month.

I also asked you what you’re going to give up in 2017?

Whatever it is be sure to phrase it as a positive because your subconscious mind reverses negatives.

For instance, if you want to quit smoking don’t write “I don’t smoke,” because your subconscious mind hears “I smoke.” Instead write…

I love being smoke-free by Mar. 1, 2017.

I joyfully accomplish my highest value tasks first thing every day!

Last step… Now write a master list of all your goals (there are eleven here. Ten or eleven is a good number for the year, but fewer works as well).

Eureka! You now have specific goals to achieve the exact outcome you wanted for 2017.

 1. My wife/husband and I enjoy date nights twice every month and joyfully give affection to one another.

2. I love weighing 140 pounds by Jan 1, 2018.

3. I look forward to my 45-minute work outs four days per week.

4. I joyfully earn $65,000 or more in 2017.

5. I am thriving in my new position as district manager by Sep 1, 2017.

6. I am debt-free by Jan 1, 2018.

7. I joyfully read the entire New Testament by Jan 1, 2018.

8. I feel great reading six new spiritual books by Jan 1, 2018.

9. I joyfully donate 10% of my income to church/charity every month.

10. I love being smoke-free by Mar. 1, 2017.

11. I joyfully accomplish my highest value tasks first thing every day!

Of course you can have goals for purchases, vacations and recreation, athletic endeavors… anything.

Next week I will share how to make a plan for each goal and the week after that a few secrets for achieving these goals.

Please forward this to someone!

Live truly, truly live,

Mike
