Movies and stories have a very specific and intentional format.
We have the hero who’s living his or her life.
The hero is good but he/she has a weakness which holds him or her back.
A disaster occurs!
The disaster is caused by a villain, who must be defeated.
Now the hero must go on a journey into the unknown to save the day.
The journey is fraught with danger, challenge and at times the outcome is doubtful.
At the darkest moment the hero meets a guide who teaches him or her how to overcome their weakness and defeat the villain.
The hero ultimately battles the villain and wins by overcoming his or her weakness.
Star Wars…
Luke Skywalker was doing his kid thing but is immature and won’t trust his instincts/the Force. His aunt and uncle are murdered by “The Evil Empire.” Darth Vader is the villain behind the tragedy and threatens the rebellion. Luke sets out on a journey and meets Obiwon Kenobe and Yoda (guides). He trains to become a Jedi. Ultimately Luke learns to trust the Force, defeats Darth Vader and is transformed.
Why do we love these stories? Because they’re all our story.
YOU, my friend are the hero.
Think about it… You are doing your thing and you probably do it well.
And you have a weakness that holds you back (we all do).
Your tragedy may be as obvious as a broken home or job loss, or something quietly insidious like disbelief, unfulfilled purpose, life passing you by with unrequited dreams, goals you really want but don’t think you can achieve, passions and gifts you never get to use.
There is also a villain. Hopefully it’s not a person but it might be life circumstances; time; not knowing how, scarcity mindset, self-doubt and limiting beliefs, or imposter syndrome. Right?
And there you are.
So what are you going to do about it?
Will you let fear win, settle for a life of “quiet desperation,” always wondering if you could have done or achieved what you’ve always wanted?
Or… are you ready to step up and take the journey, overcome your weakness, defeat your villain and achieve your goal, create your ideal life?
If you want to live happily ever after there is only one answer: Take the journey.
This is exactly why I created the What IF Weekend In Vegas…. To help you take the journey… identify and set your goals; overcome what holds you back; defeat your villain; and achieve what you never thought you could!
And I will be your guide.
I have guided many others to defeating their villains and achieving goals they never thought possible in both their personal and professional lives, some they hadn’t yet identified or were too … and I would like to do that for you.
